Wipro was started as Western Indian Vegetable Products Ltd. in 1945 by Mohamed Premji, father of Azim Premji, as a Manufacturer of hydrogenated cooking fats. At the time, Premji’s father was already an established rice merchant. Azim Premji completed his schooling in Mumbai and was pursuing electrical engineering at Stanford University in the United States when in 1966 he had to leave and return to India due to his father’s sudden demise. He then became the chairman of Wipro at the young age of 21 amidst Shareholderrevolt. He expanded the company’s product line to include hydraulic cylinders, soaps, and lighting products, renaming the company Wipro in 1977

Mohammad Anwar was born in a small village named Amalner, in Maharashtra Jalgaon district. Mohammad Anwar and his four brothers used to work with their father on the family farmland. Due to the unexpected death of his father, the farm was divided among the four brothers. Anwar sold his part of the land and got Rs 80,000. At that time, he was twenty-seven and had two children. He wonders to invest that money when he came across a visiting broker(Satish Shah) from Mumbai who had visited to procure shares of Wipro from the resident of Amalner.

Satish Shah asked Mohammad Anwar to visit door-to-door and obtain as many shares as he could from the resident. Anwar helped him, and as a parting gift, Satish offered him a hundred shares at face value of Rs 100 each. To that, Mohammed Anwar accepted and invested Rs 10,000 of his legacy and invested the leftover 10,000 to begin a small trading outfit. Presently, the price per share is Rs.265. And, his shares are valued at Rs.679 crores. He has received a dividend of Rs.169 crores from Wipro and hence By investing Rs.10,000, Anwar gained Rs 848 crore.
