Today in Kolkata, doctors are continuing their protests, demanding increased safety and security at their workplaces. The protests have intensified following the recent alleged rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at R.G. Kar Medical College. Doctors are urging the government to implement stronger laws that would make attacks on medical professionals non-bailable offenses, among other security measures in hospitals.

These protests have drawn significant support from various civil society groups, political parties, and educators. A major rally was organized today, where participants marched through key parts of the city to press their demands for justice and safer working conditions. Despite appeals from the state government to return to work, junior doctors remain on strike, refusing to resume duties until their demands are met
